Classic PC Games You Really Enjoyed

#1  Postby Sovereign » Nov 14, 2011 4:32 am

I was going through some old games of mine and I realized I had played some good games. Here are some of the ones I loved.

This series was probably the best space sim I ever played

Megarace has a very special place in my heart.

Jazz Jackrabbit. Good times man, good times. They should release it on Steam or something. Actually, I'm going to go and see if I can find it somewhere.

Chuzzle and Mah Jong. But I don't really enjoy them.
They just fill time.

Err...yeah.

I dig that game out every few years. I may not have played many new games, but it's the best sword-fighting mechanic I've personally seen: totally simple (you strike or block), but the long exchanges of thrust and parry just make you feel totally badass.

Anyway, I played it a lot this year. Got it completed in 29 minutes! Didn't bother with any of the potions to give you extra life, and didn't die once.

(I still play Doom as well: I've managed the first three episodes of Ultimate Doom on Ultraviolence without saves, but Thy Flesh Consumed is way more difficult. You have to actually use something called "strategy" if you'd believe it.)
Here we go again. First, we discover recursion.

I like Doom a lot too, but also the doom-engine based games like Heretic, Strife, Hexen, ... and some of the games from about that time: the marathon trilogy (altho' not strictly PC games), ...

In general, I mostly play games from the 90s.

Hah! Totally found it on the internet. Thank-you Wikipedia.

Oh man! I had totally forgotten about Heretic!

I remember my computer overheating while playing Loom. I don't think they ever made a sequel like they did with the Monkey Island series.
