And I thought completing the game without dying or using bonfires was insane enough.

I'm feeling more confident with DS2 now. I wouldn't say it was "easy" but, I can see myself ploughing through the game to the finish happily enough. And then onto a NG+

Just started DS2 last night. I missed the tutorial sections as I was convinced that Souls was screwing with me and taking me to an early boss fight or something after not trusting mist walls from the first game. Went to the village and then on to the area with the giant knights by the coast. Took me a while to realise that it was a route you can kite if you're good enough and not the recommended path. Doh!

Yeah, that DS2 doesn't funnel you down a particular route is one of the things I really like about the game. You can choose from a variety of backdrops to die in.

I was convinced it was just Souls being Souls and I needed to step up my game. The "correct" route was actually the last one I found out of that area. Now in the far more reasonable but still testing early Souls game grind.

Found out I missed the NPC that gives you the Estus flask and allows you to level up. Oh Souls, you are such a prankster!

I had to look that one up when I started playing. The game doesn't signpost her in any way!

Especially as there is a massive monument that draws your attention right next to her. After playing the first game pretty much from the Undead Berg on with a guide I thought I would just explore for DS2. I feel like I've just been trolled hard for two straight nights, and this was going into the game prepared for it to be screwing with me.

I still have to get back an finish DS3. In fact at this stage I may as well start again because I've lost the flow of it. I really wish the PlayStation Forums would stop giving me these free games to review ( :whine: )

(Or are the games payment for my reivew? )
