Because tons of cool games get funded through kickstarter now, we might as well have a thread about it. :smoke:

I did. An open-source hackable gaming console! I'm fucking sold.

It's passed the 5 million dollar mark. The CEO says she had actually already secured the necessary funding for the project and that kickstarter was about testing public response to the idea.

That's not as cool, IMO.

Pity these things tend to take years to get to market, I'm also keeping an eye on the PocketTV, which looks like a great piece of neato.

It's a shame Kickstarter is more of a Kickfinisher really. People go there with mostly finished product most of the time and then get funding, anyone wanting to start on a project doesn't really seem to get the time of day which seems counter intuitive.

I really am not a fan of kickstarter. They accept and promote people not on the basis of how feasible their idea is but the likely hood they'll get media coverage/in community attention.

If that wasn't bad enough the PennyArcade kickstarter says they are willing to ignore the rules they use to reject people for a big enough client.

MMmmm no. It's a fiddly peripheral, it looks heavy and bulky and as someone mentioned it's got pretty crap resolution, and being closer then a screen it will break immersion instead of adding to it.

I'm not much into RTS, but I would play this. It doesn't seem overly complex or require copious amounts of micromanagement like most other RTSs.
