I'll repost what I wrote here:

I've played it now, and it is absolutely best integrated in the game instead of being played after the ending. I would play it after completing Tuchanka or Rannoch, if I do another playthrough. It is a good assignment, with 3-4 hrs worth of gaming and a slightly different take. A couple of locations make it stand out, the sleuthing is a change of pace, and the weapon mods rather useful. The new weapons are meh. A total of 11 War Assets can be found. The expanded background on the Reapers give a bit more depth (about three kilometres of it - you'll see!). It isn't essential, but pretty worth the money and time if one is into the ME universe. Also, there are enough XP to be had to level a couple of times - nice if you are gunning for level 60.

I've seen Leviathan, just wanted to hear what you guys thought of it. Maybe I should have checked out the other ME thread, the one about the ending.

I totally agree about it being best played in the game. The problem with any dlc that comes now is that if feels so anti-climatic. It makes me wish they were all alive again!

Don't know if you saw The Abyss, but some really big echoes there!

One thing my friend Sven said (he's just done Leviathan in his YT LP and he did it right before Thessia) is that it would have made the ending a lot punchier if they could have put all the 'exposition' (i.e. dialogue with the star child) in Leviathan, and not have that extended bit on the Citadel to break up the action/emotion. I totally agree with that.

Mass Effect 3 just came out to download for free this month for Playstation Plus subscribers. Worth playing without the other 2?

IMO not really. The story arc is a major part of the experience. Over a 100+ hours, you've built a relationship with your Shepard, several companions and other characters, and the universe itself; without that, it just becomes a shooter.

I agree, even though I didn't play it, I just watched it. ME3 has a huge emotional impact if you've actually played the other two games, and I can't imagine what it would be like without this.

I can't afford to pay anything more than free right now.

Not to worry. I have Dead or Alive 5 with it's earth-shattering combos and buxom lasses with real-life breast buoyancy to play to my heart's content.

Has anyone played the new DLC yet?

Yes. It's mostly comedic fanservice, nothing special playwise, no relevance to the main story. It's pretty funny on occasion, but jarring on other occasions because of high amount of fourth wall breaking and out of character jokes and puns.

You mean "Omega"? Yes, it was a pretty good mission. If you have played just about everything else in the ME universe, you won't be disappointed.

There was a new one that just came out. It's advertized as the last hurrah and has everyone in it. I think Tursas post is referring to it since the 4th wall wasn't broken in any of the other DLC.

The latest is Called 'Citadel' Seems to revolve around mucking around in the CItadel and customise your own apartment.. Which is pointless considering how often the citadel gets fucking wrecked...

I watched about half of the Citadel dlc on YT last night. I have to admit, up to that point (i.e. half-way) I was decidedly unimpressed. For me, the whole saga was epic and incredibly moving, and I found this a bit too frivolous for my taste. It was more like watching people come onstage for a final bow, which from that point of view was 'fun'. But like I said I only watched the first half...

So I completed ME3 last night, second time with the EC...I see some touching new dialogue has been added for the love interest should you take them with you on the final mission.
