Meet the Man Who Beat 'Pac-Man'

#1  Postby DoctorE » Jul 22, 2016 1:58 pm

In 1999, Billy Mitchell was the first person to achieve a perfect score in "Pac-Man." His ability to reach the end of the game even stumped "Pac-Man's" creators and designers, who named him the “video game player of the century.” Here’s what he had to do to beat the game.

Buy his hot sauce. It will make you a better gamer and you will beat Pac Man and Donkey Kong as well.

Did anyone see this? It was surprisingly good

Here’s what he had to do to beat the game.

Actually I was disappointed not to hear how long he had to practice and what kind of techniques, if any, he used. He described what is important/essential for beating the game but that does not set him apart.

Yeah, though apparently quite economical with the truth.

In what way? I really barely remember it, from the clips I saw looking for one to post, there seemed to be a lot of people talking about what they'd done or could do, but they aren't shown to be doing any of it.

It's been awhile since I read about it, but I recall them exaggerating/contriving the rivalry between the two main characters, and being very picky with their footage and facts to give the film a clear hero and villain.

I loved the film but they definitely built it up that way. I'm not sure how accurately it portrayed reality but it did make for a good story.
