I remember this one during development & shortly after launch, and then I lost track of it. Set in the Canadian wilderness, following an event that disables electronics. Many of the critic reviews are probably dated & unrepresentative - the game seems to have received constant updates, including a new survival mode just 12 days ago, called Hesitant Prospect. The list of dev credits is pretty impressive, including writer Marianne Krawczyk and composer Sascha Dikiciyan.

I took a quick look and it seems that they're in an on again, off again relationship. Probably easier to just keep everything Windows for when the good times come around.

Their user-side infrastructure is so barebones, I wouldn't be surprised if they just haven't made the time. I imagine their top priority is recruiting Steam users, so they still need to upgrade the interface... with "basic" features like native stream support, mod support, discussion boards, local backups, cloud saves (very limited at the moment), gifting, etc. Shock & awe spending on promos right now, little priority given to anything else - so I'm guessing MacOS & Linux support is low priority. It probably doesn't help that Epic's in a spat with Apple over Fortnite on the App store.

My Epic launcher sucks more generally. It's the only one (besides the Xbox app - lol) that takes several seconds (5-10?) to load from standby mode in the system tray, every time. Dumb.

I think Tropico 5 is still banned in Thailand. The military government apparently thought the optics of banning it was preferable to letting the citizenry get funny foreign ideas of satirizing tinpot dictatorships.
