Heh, it's about the only game I have (make) time to play these days.

Single most important tip for a new player is install a mod pack containing XVM (I use aslain's pack).

What tanks do you have?

I've got an E 50, Tiger II and a Loewe.

17 hours to download the client, then it failed to run because some Dll file or something is missing, and the suggestion was "try reloading the program". Screw that.

I played it for a while years ago. Apparently they did a lot of work on it in the meantime, but honestly, I didn't find it interesting for more than a couple of hours. Very grindy and the matches all were either steamrolls or uncoordinated slugfests.

I think my garage runs to about 40, have unlocked most of all lines except french and japanese. Stuck with a lot of tier 9s as that is when the grind really takes a long time (I only play on a weekend, and basically just to get the double).

It's only really grindy in the later tiers.

Yes, I assume so. It was grindy enough in the lower tiers and I figured it wouldn't get any better.

It's pretty much the only thing I've played for the past year and a half.

I fired my first premium shells in random games yesterday. I played through the JPzIV (132 pen at tier VI) and the Comet (145 pen at tier VII) entirely without using gold. I was going to keep it up until I hit 10000 games and then see if it actually makes any difference to your win rate, but upon getting the SuperPershing through the mission I decided that I didn't fancy 170 pen at tier VIII.

The 'grindy' nature of advancing through the tiers is starting to bore me now. I've got a tier VII medium tank, even if I win all my battles, the sheer amount of games I'll have to play to get a tier VIII doesn't seem worth it for a brief "Ooh, shiny!" new tank moment. Goodness knows how people make it to tier X.

Plus, a pox on 90% of teammates. If they're not using you as a bulletshield and preventing you reversing out of harm's way, they're dramatically throwing themselves off bridges and costing you the match.
