Los foros sobre escepticismo ¿realmente lo son?

Post by aleCcowaN »

[Summary in English at the bottom of the post]

[Summary: Fora devoted to scepticism are fine, but both their content and most of their users seem to lack certain elements of knowledge which are paramount to their sceptical endeavours. "Induced inferences" and "epistemological hedonism" are listed as a part of those lacking elements, and forum members are invited to discuss and expand the list]

I see. To summarise the 'Summary' even further:

Most sceptics who use 'Sceptic Fora' are ignorant...

(I think a full translation might shed more light).
I have NO BELIEF in the existence of a God or gods. I do not have to offer evidence nor do I have to determine absence of evidence because I do not ASSERT that a God does or does not or gods do or do not exist.

What do you mean by 'epistomological hedonism'?
"Respect for personal beliefs = "I am going to tell you all what I think of YOU, but don't dare retort and tell what you think of ME because...it's my personal belief". Hmm. A bully's charter and no mistake."

See this pdf.

I haven't read through it - it looks very philosophical.

Alec,

The seven or so years that I have been active on this forum have provided me with an education, not on "how to rattle off cheap shots against religious people", but on the scientific method, how scientific reasoning works, and the nature of logical and argumentative fallacy. Lengthy treatments of these concepts abound on this forum, as do links to articles and scientific journal entries.

This particular forum did not arise of out a knee-jerk, emotional response to irrationality by equality irrational amateurs. It is a lifeboat for genuine skeptical inquiry by those interested in intellectual honesty.

Bienvenido al bote salvavidas.

A summary in English was provided as an aid for moderators and a courtesy for users in general. It was never intended to foster a debate "not in other languages" about what it might or mightn't say.
