Wow. I sort of feel for Dawkins. He's so naive in some areas and clearly hasn't a clue what he's getting into with this. I wonder if they convinced him to put any of his own money into it. I hope not.

This most recent post on Dawkins' Twitter account is rather intriguing. Apparently, he (i.e., Dawkins himself) wrote a program back in the 80s.

The cause is noble enough. According to the developer, Gordon Ross:

But what really interested me about this project from the start, when Ross first mentioned the idea, was the potential educational impact of the game.

“Yes my objective is ultimately is to get it in front of as many young minds as possible,” says Ross. “So that they stand a chance to understand where they come from and they’re not the process of some magic.

I'm hoping the creatures can get past the cockroach stage, or there may be a few disappointed young minds. Or maybe colourful cockroaches might be enough to spur a further interest in evolution. Who knows? This remains to be seen.
