I thought this topic may have some appeal for people who have some experience with the "grander" forms of classical music such as concertos and symphonies but have yet to enjoy the pleasure of the more intimate form that is chamber music.

I thought I might start with the second (and slow) movement from Brahms' Clarinet Quintet Op 115.

Nice thread idea.

If I'd kept up my playing I think I would have been a chamber musician.

Here's Ravel's string quartet in F. Mvt 2. Pretty cool little movement.

Fratres - performed by the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, by Arvo Pärt. I think the harmonic language has had a huge influence on film music in the last decade or so.

The original Fratres was written for cello and piano, and later adapted for various instruments, including the above version which is for any multiple of 4 cellos.

Grace if you edit the following

"/watch?v=vwjckBCIPZU&feature=related"

to just "/watch?v=vwjckBCIPZU"

you will find the video will appear in this topic. In other words delete everything from - and including - the "&" character rightwards.

BTW, I'm not sure this orchestral work (Bolero) counts as chamber music which is usually without a conductor. But a nice piece anyway.

Five years is a bit long to ignore this topic. I've been busy..
Borodin really knew how to write great melodies, as the guys credited with writing the successful Broadway show Kismet knew only too well.
