Check out Feed The Beast, and/or the Technic Launcher. They each have a few different mod packs, including some really fucking useful magic and/or industrial mods.
I'm new to the game. I'm currently working on a HUMONGOUS KICK ASS castle at the moment on sandbox mode in Vanilla. I've Christened it Everwatch, in reference to the massive central tower. Work on it for an hour or so every couple of nights. Actually a really good way of winding down... :)

No pics yet, as I've still got lots to do. I keep getting distracted by more interesting tasks such as working on my viaducts (I've got one delivering water and one delivering lava) or the harbor when I should be working on the outer walls.

Anyone got any good recommendations for mods? Also, are there cheats? I'd like to be able to spawn waterfalls...
If you are in creative you can give yourself a bucket filled with water and use that to make a waterfall. You would also have the ability to use all the command codes, you enter them in the chat with a /.

I've officially invented infinite energy in FTB now. Unfortunately not a PPM but my cactus coke generator is providing me with enough solid and liquid fuel to maintain a huge high pressure and a medium low pressure boiler and well I don't know what to do with all the steam.

We are alive, so the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe.

Oh, and can I say I'm very impressed by how big the world(s) is/are. I went searching for the edge last night and couldn't find my way back home. Google helped me find the co-ordinate system. Exactly how big are the basic worlds?

I think the best estimate is they can get as large as about 8 times the surface area of the earth. I'll try to find a source for that when I get home. Your computer will crash before you ever touch the edge.

It's procedurally generated using cellular automata. There is no edge to the map. There is what has been generated so far and what hasn't. Oh and if memory serves the 8 times the surface area of the earth was talking about a world that would take up a 1TB harddrive.

That's the thing. I make these admittedly complex and intricate devices but I house them in rectangular prisms. That said besides turtles and other commuters there's nothing too complex in FTB. LUA isn't the most intuitive programming language. (That said writing code out of MC helps so much.)

Well technically there is an edge in a sense. The Far Lands, though they aren't meant to appear any more but even then the end of the world is there still.

As mentioned by Matt, there really is no limit. It's procedurally generated, so it will keep on going until tiny inaccuracies in how the algorithm generates the world starts to result in buggy landscape. I think they have actually added a border before this happens but it is so far out that it would take you about a solid month of nonstop sprinting to reach the edge.

Sweet. Power converter now takes steam. No more converting steam to BC to IC2 to avoid turbines.

I play on a hexit server from a different forum but would like to see a RS server. As my post are pretty clear I like complicated builds. Tekkit or similar.

I've recently gotten back into Minecraft. Been playing with my brother and his girlfriend over our network here (they live at my place).

Wooden Axe is a good adults only server. I've been absent for a few weeks but going to be getting back into it. It's vanilla survival with an economy and protected residence mods...

So Denmark has made the whole country in Minecraft. It is downloadable as a whole or in smaller parts or can be played on servers they have set up.

That is some fucking cool shit.

Cool I was wondering whenframes were going to make it into vanilla. Admittedly not quite as good as the mod yet but we'll see. I remember I had an awesome 36 block high vault door that The simplest thing ever to build. I also had my creeper compactor. That was cool because it had the W shaped interlocking teeth.
