I never found it very stimulating. A bit dull.

Only found the life boat a week ago ... havent really bothered about social media or forums til now ... too busy offline ... getting my ducks to fly ... not really in a row ... just flying solo is good enough

I started posting without much idea of the general skeptical forum and blogger terrain ... so I scoped it a bit ...now I have read about a civil war, factions, RD, a bit of history of Rat Skep and Brights etc ... its been busy here too ... seems like I was smart to stay offline until I had spare time ... yes I was a chat room virgin ... I fell in lerve with Rat Skep at first sight ... now that I have looked at the competition it seems I was right to go with initial reaction ... I will slow down on posts... just been dipping toe in the water... I am not usually very reactive ... more curious

from Times Power by Adrienne Rich ... I also like Wilfred Owen's war poems

I'm a long time visitor to Skepdic. After meandering aimlessly (though not pointlessly) I found Secluar Web and more recently Rational Wiki. Then here... In other words, I fell in with a bad crowd. (So society is to blame).

As a younger human, I dabbled (not so much believed) in, trialing a few "magical" notions - TM, a few New(ish) Age type "courses" (a fine blend of exotic and native bullshit), a little nutrition/herbal "therapy" (Adelle Davis etc), some popular psychology (Wayne Dyer) - never with much gusto.

I even went, (on reccommendation of a fellow traveller), to a few "clairvoyants". All complete bollox - though that could be my dark aura coming through, as usual.

Never religious. (Luckily there weren't any good looking girls at sunday school.)

I don't believe in literal magic of any kind, no matter how appealling it may be. Mystery is fine by me.

My main interests at the moment (other than wine, food, travel and comfort) are in religious disbelief, pseudoscience, denialism, PTC, politics and assorted woo, wankerism and faux psychology.

Glad to find a little more rationality on the web. 8-)

I actually found this forum as I googled 'debunk unlocking mysteries of life', which a Creationist wanted me to watch.

Greetings all! I was directed to these forums by a friend and co-worker down here in the tightest hole of the Bible Belt , and have finally register'd. I plan to enjoy myself, taking my time viewing older threads and more recent ones.

In the meantime, if you enjoy the thought of flying...

Hi, everyone, I'm new here... I got dragged in during a Google search investigating the claim that there are clam shells on Mount Everest. Needless to say the results of my search here were entertaining.

I hope to learn for myself how we know many of the things that are accepted in the scientific community as having happened in the deep past.

Hi Vardarac. I'm newly registered here too, but I've been lurking here for such a long time that I can't remember how I found out about the place.

I may have jsut joined, but I remember years ago when this forum was a hastily inflated rubber dinghy. I had only recently started to settle at RDF, and thought I could think of that place as a centre of stability in my otherwise chaotic life. But with many a blow to reason and community, it was sunk like the b ottle of jacobs creek rose I had tonigh. So I followed the great hackenslashes youtube advisory to rationalia, and though I watched this place grow, I clung to the fisrt raft I found and the friends who were abord, for some of the greatest adventure of my life so far. But now the server seems to be fucked so I'm here.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
