Here's the train information from Glasgow airport to Fort William: Glasgow Airport to Fort William on 29/10/12 at thetrainline.com 36 GBP.

Then here's the bus from Fort William to Fort Augustus: Winter timetable. Buses on 29 October and 30 October return..

Or, if you were to rent a car at the airport, it's a nice drive up to Fort Augustus through Glen Coe and Fort William. Clen Coe is so picturesque, you really shouldn't gawk while driving. People driving off the road is common on that road. There is significant terrain off which you do not want to drive a car.

Could get caught in snow at that time of year in Glen Coe. Then it is a very bleak place.

Being in Scotland without a car isn't a very good option... unless you have the patience and raw determination to rely on public transport. Which is a huge annoyance to anyone who likes the idea of a tourist route based on the location of distilleries.

On Islay, I had to restrict myself to just one visit... to the Bruichladdich distillery.

What's "Cask Strength"? Someone I knew once got some... the implication being that it needed to be watered down before drinking (whether you usually drank it neat, or not).

When after the third distillation it is a 100% spirit so it it has to be watered down.

I have tasted pure spirit after the second distillation. You had to be near a bed to do it and I am not joking
