[quote="Thomas Eshuis";p="2664514"]Finally, as several reviews have noted; the dialogue in this episode was repetitive and to expositional.[/quote]
Haven't seen it yet, but the level of expositional dialogue has been ridiculously high all season.
We usually sit down and watch Who as a family each weekend (and timezones mean we're a week behind as it airs here on Mondays now, another poor change for us) but are on the edge of giving up on this season. Yet another weakly scripted episode will do us in, I reckon. The blatantly expositional dialogue already has my kids yelling at the television.

This weeks episode had Doctor realizing and ex-positing something the villain had just got done explaining to them....

The king was way to hammy and rather superfluous [/quote]
There's a fair chance that was what King James VI was actually like.[/quote]
Could very well be, but it took me completely out of it. Especially since his addition to the story did not really add anything substantive imo.

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
it wasn’t as awful as Robot of Sherwood.
sadly that is entirely not difficult.

I read that Whittaker's second season has already started production, presumably with Chibnall still at the helm.
It's the scripts that are the issue for me: inconsistent, preachy, and full of telling rather than showing. One of the hallmarks of good Doctor Who is cleverness. Not much cleverness in this season, just lots of deus ex machina bollocks.

Chibbers wasn't as truly fucking bollocks as I had feared given his past form on the show. Now the dust is settling and we're in business as usual the picture isn't too pretty again. There's a very obvious formula that seems a lot more prescriptive, and that's never a good thing.

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
I'm talking in terms of the plot. Rather than working towards towards a solution, one just drops out of the sky - in this case a minimally secured obsolete delivery robot that just happens to be able to overwrite delivery instructions (why would it have this capacity) in the current version of the system (why would the system require such backwards compatibility?) for the entire current fleet of Kerblam men. The stuff they encounter just happens to have exactly the unlikely attributes required by the plot, for no good reason. It's lazy as fuck.

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
eh, better than holding her sonic to a megaphone to do the job to cover the whole assembled fleet.
given the sonics abilites: entirely plausible and totally boring.
also: so you had no problems with a watch collecting all sorts of Mc Guffin Particles that allow it to direct the TARDIS to a specific place in time and space?

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
Many different brutal, horrifying, and laughably silly moments in the latest episode. Loved it.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
It had a lot of neat concepts but some of the execution fell short imo, as did some of the jokes/silliness.

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
I'm beginning to lose interest - same theme different locations. She could do a lot better and she is OK as the Doctor, but...can't quite put my finger on it. I always had Doctor Who on 'record' in case I'm out and watched it as soon as I could. Now, though, if there is anything else worth watching I'll watch that first and 'do' the Doctor some other time.
But I'll continue watching, just in case...

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
feels like the Doctor is running with the handbrake on.
still quite happy I bought the season instead of waiting a year or so for the public library to have the box for a binge.

now, can we have a whole season like that next time?
pretty please with sprinkles on top.

Re: Doctor Who [SPOILERS]
Nice episode, lackluster finale.
Missed learning more about the Stenza. Unx pretty 2-D, locking up Tim Shaw seems to telegraph he'll be back some time.

I wonder if they realize that all this „don’t kill him“ of (recurring) villains actually gives the vievers the impression that blowing peoples heads off is the better option in the long run.
In the words of 11: „no second chances!“

Heck, they did not even have to kill, just no leave him in a prison he designed himself.
