Re: Back WOW after 7 years
The lag seems much better today, Blizz seems to have lowered the server caps so less players are one at one time. I spent 30 minutes in the queue to get in. Just like back in the old days, sweet memories. After a couple hours of play my game crashed out and I was disconnected from server. I didn't want to try the wait again so I stopped for the day. There is a four hour downtime starting really soon or now that I might try playing again after. I did try and join a random dungeon group for the first dungeon but the wait time for DPS was about an hour, tanks and healers were getting in fast I heard. I guess I will be watching the runs on youtube and learning the instances that way for now.
I am really loving the Garrison thing, like a lot. Getting followers and sending them on missions yeah that shit is fun. Makes me feel like I am a hero of the realm, a person trusted to be all cool and hardcore. Building a base and the like, this is good stuff that WoW needs more of. I would like to see it expanded to having a Guild Hall or a personal house that you can decorate in some way.

Yea garrison's been great so far.
Ran into another bug though.
Was DC-ed with my warlock and when I logged back in, my dreadstead was suddenly unavailable, giving the message: "You have not collected this mount."
Wtf?
*Edit, restarting the game seems to have fixed it. Still gives a pretty unstable impression.

Re: Back WOW after 7 years
When I was directed to the hub city for the Horde on the Asharn Island I ran into a bug of some sort. I had to talk to a certain NPC and in doing so was told over and over when clicking on icons in the chat or continue or complete quest that I could not use that item because it was busy. At no point was it impossible to press a button, it all worked fine but I could not use that item over and over popped up. Made me laugh a bit.

Why not? Queues or DC issues?
I have heard that Blizz got DDOSed...again...during launch. Perhaps the EU servers got hit harder than the Aus ones.

It takes an age to download on my computer, but there's also some problem with the client, don't ask me what.

Re: Back WOW after 7 years
Literally was getting mad at people on the forums yesterday ranting about the Launch.
One of the biggest reasons the servers experienced major issues is because they hit population spikes that were not exactly expected. A lot of the people who bitched and moaned about how awful Mists of Pandaria was and how they would never play WoW again all of a sudden logged on to play Draenor. Not only that but WoW experienced a ton of DDoS attacks last night from players.
I honestly was expecting them to take down the servers but the fact is they just capped the servers which is a mild issue since servers can still hold thousands regardless of the cap. At least you were able to play to a degree (unless you are on one of the more popular servers like Darkspear and Proudmoore than sucks for you).

After 4 expansions?
Really?

So Blizzard asserts.
And they haven't specified where these supposed DDoS attacks came from.

So you admit that many people were not able to play the game?
At the very least Blizzard should exclude yesterday from the subscription time count.

Also this DDoS buisness was apparently aimed at the US, so it doesn't explain the multitude of problems we had in the EU.

Yes really. I don't know how long you have been playing but BC, Wrath, Cata, and Pandaria were all relatively smooth with bugs on occaison. Considering Cata had the most people online at a given time in Wow's history and had an incredibly successful launch day the fact that Draenor is a bit different (namely all players are being focused at garrisons either in Shadowmoon Valley or Frostridge Fall in individually instanced zones) is something the delvs and team thought they had fixed. Obviously the PTR realms can only gauge so much.
And they haven't specified where these supposed DDoS attacks came from.[/quote]
And why should they? That is business classified. What reasons does Blizzard have for lying about DDoS attacks? They are very common in online software whether intentional or accidental. So go on and be skeptical of DDoS attacks if it helps you sleep at night.

No they should not. Read your ToS (you know the thing everyone just scrolls down and hits accept so they can play.)
This is why Blizz can shut down the servers every Tuesday to do maintenance. They can technically shut the servers off indefinitely, but they wouldn't do that without prior notice. So no they shouldn't refund what? $2.00 for a day of buggy or no gameplay?

The Aus server I am on is working fine. Though we did just come out of an extended maintenance so perhaps whatever they did there will be done to the EU servers soon.

Re: Back WOW after 7 years
Hope so. I mean it's bound to get smoother as time goes on anyway, and I'm used to this with each launch, but there's nothing quite so infuriating as being surrounded by all that new content to explore and only being able to inch towards it. It must have taken me about 10 seconds just to turn my char 180 degrees.

I fed Ogres to a giant fiery worm until it was fat and full...it then spat out a huge rock. That broke down into a bunch of vendor crap and a nice new shield for me. I think me and the giant worm can be friends.
