I don't know much about Deep Space Nine. I had no idea they made a model like that. I'm going to have to watch some of those episodes.

And the guy who owned the shop was into getting off the ground.



And he designed and built these.

And Vern Sion had his own way of expressing his creativity.

And Richard Datin, the man who built the original 3' enterprise and then led the 11 foot effort was fond of trains.

And he did the models for Hooterville!

Not Star Trek, but of related interest.
The 'nzpetesmatteshot' blog is mostly dedicated to 2D matte painting. However, it has a page featuring movie miniatures (models). And it's a very big page, showcasing several dozen photographs of model aircraft, ships, buildings, automobiles, etc., all of them used in special FX shots for the cinema and television. In many of the on-set photographs, the model appears with the film crew, allowing one to see the scale.
