How kooky batshittery works:

Pretend that actual evidence should be dismissed on the grounds of evidence-free declarations about conspiracy theories, while expecting others to find your mate Dave from down the pub's opinion to be perceived as gospel.
More importantly, Nielsen is the same organization whose numbers Amazon has consistently found fault with and the same organization whose numbers suggest that RoP is running out of steam as early as season 1. Honestly this whole situation is looking like a recap of when some (former) high school friends gloated about how scuffed Burning Man the Dakota Access Pipeline protests succeeded in preventing oil infrastructure not actually on an Indian reservation from being constructed, leading to opportunities for hilarity like pointing out that the supposed images of the popo burning down tipis were actually just still frames from the HBO production of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
Nielson's actual numbers, cited here many times, show that RoP is 3rd in the most viewed streamed content with 988 million minutes of viewing in the US alone.

It's right there. Everyone can view it independently.

Writing a sentence that states the opposite, claims that the very source you keep ignoring or trying to explain away is in fact telling us the exact contrary to what it clearly says is beyond disingenuous, but is entirely to form.

OK. Why would Tolkien like RoP?
You have an obsession with obsessions, doncha?
No, just pointing out that you'd be seen as making a better case if you would talk more about non-cock-related subjects and making "NO U" responses when encouraged to do so.

Except that Business Insider for example isn't "my mate Dave from the pub" and, honestly, neither is reviewer Nerdrotic.

Nielsen's numbers also show a decline in viewership with each episode, which is why Amazon has had a bug up their ass about them. You'd think they would have had more ink to spill on their flagship series in the Q3 report besides the recycled figure from Jennifer Salke, from three weeks earlier, about "bro trust me bro we're about to crack 100 million viewers bro" but it appears they don't really have all that much to trumpet about. That would go a long way towards explaining all the deleted YouTube comments and IMDb reviews. I'm not saying any of this to dissuade you from ceasing to be so smug and up your own ass about the subject matter; as in a number of past instances I've experienced, that part comes a bit later. And boy is it funny!

So, factually, RoP cannot be described as 'bombing'.

To do so, one would need to be fully immersed in post-truthism, likely driven by social media, and in possession of a mind that's fallen down the inductive fallacy well and hit its head on every protruding brick all the way down.

Sue, Sarah and Bob saying X on social media doesn't mean X is true, it means that Sue, Sarah and Bob have an opinion. Opinions are fine and wonderful things but can never supersede data and evidence.

I can guarantee that season 2 is going to be even funnier than the current shitshow.

You didn't manage to read the whole thing, did ya?

Almost like you explicitly ignored the remainder just to be an arse! :)
I think Tolkien would love to see his work continue to mean something to future generations - it was, after all, an emulation of a mythic cultural narrative, and mythic cultural narratives survive the eons by being retold in a way that resonates with current generations.

If viewer count didn't drop off after 2 episodes, it'd be highly unusual. Long established honeymoon phase phenomenon of new streamed series. You've paid for it already, so you might as well take a look even if it's not to your taste - don't like it? When do you drop it? Me, I drop it in moments, but many people are more tolerant of poor entertainment and continue on for some time.

But this is all wholly irrelevant when you can simply look at the viewing numbers and respective ranking. 988 million minutes is 988 million minutes, no amount of nose-wiggling can change that.

It's been continuing to drop ever since, which calls into question with how much it's really "resonating" as you put it.

There were a lot of eyeballs on lady Ghostbusters too. It still ended up bombing, which is also what's going to happen to RoP if it can't reap well over 1 billion USD worth of revenue.

I think the way he mocked what I had to say about it actually going down was something along the lines of "mark my words!" and I of course heckled the shit out of him after seeing this until he made nearly his whole timeline private. It's a good thing users here can't do that.

Oh look!

ANOTHER evidence free assertion.

Weren't you supposed to he evidencing that the show is 'bombing'? Now all you can muster is that viewer ratings have dropped since the first episode - a description which would be true of practically every show.

Okay, real talk: how does this make any sense? With Ghostbusters, you had to go buy a ticket, buy the movie, or rent it on some platform. There's a very clear line there between how much the movie makes and how many people see it.

Rings of Power is on Amazon's platform. People just need a subscription to see it - a subscription they might have for multiple reasons. So how do we determine what Rings of Power does and doesn't earn, when what any given person pays for to see it is something they could be paying for for any number of alternative reasons?

And?

Still amounts to 988 million minutes.

You seem to think there's some cunning way to make this number not be true.

Or just distract from it.

Regardless, your repeated contentions that RoP is 'bombing' is shown to be laughably disconnected from reality, presumably because you get yours from social media echo chambers that vim you up to fight the lefties wherever they may be.

No, I regularly entertain ideas from people whose ideas sharply differ from my own, because I want to make sure I am not in an "echo chamber", as you put it. But I'm sure you could tell me a LOT about avoiding echo chambers, huh? If so, go into detail. Where are these non-echo chambers you frequent? Oh, right.

And you made a big song and dance about ">muh Nielsen >muh NIelsen >muh Nielsen", which was at least more on point than speculating about my penis, but the trouble here is that your own Nielsen numbers show that RoP is flagging, exponentially so. Season 1 is already looking awful and season 2 is only going to be worse. Will they even make it through the full slated five seasons?

No, stop lying at me.

I've cited the Nielson numbers here over and over, so you can't just lie about them.

The Nielson rankings show 988 million minutes of viewing - you have to address this fact, as fact it remains.

988 million minutes of viewing cannot be described honestly as 'bombing'. You made this claim many times, I have cited the actual numbers.

Do you acknowledge this?

If you then want to still contend how RoP has 988 million minutes of viewing ranking it 3rd among streamed content and STILL want that to be considered 'bombing', then you need to do something more than attempting to fudge the discussion by making it about perceptions or social media or whether there are fewer people watching it now than watched the first two episodes.

Factually, RoP is not bombing.

What's interesting for me is that I have no horse in this race at all. I won't be watching it because I don't watch TV and don't have a subscription. While I have loved Tolkien's work all my life, I don't care whether any given production is a commercial success or not - I'm a book lover. I still haven't watch The Hobbit and probably never will. None of this has any subjective value to me, but objectively, RoP is not bombing by any honest sense of the word.
