I don't think either of you would like Animal Crossing. It's a very safe game with no threat. You're not even pushed for any particular objectives. They made it so you could spent just a few minutes a day on it. In fact you find that if you play for an hour, especially at the beginning, that you're left with nothing left to do. You can't even speed time, it's played in real time so if you plant some stuff or request a build and it says it takes a day you may as well put the game down and pick it up again tomorrow where your stuff will be there along with new tasks and the like.

Yeah, that's why I asked this first. I hesitated at first, but if there is no exploration/combat, then I know I won't like it. And what you just said adds to it, I tend to play games for long sessions at the time. I'll stay on My Time at Portia for the moment then.

It's worse than that. Some of the events, item availability, etc are seasonal. I guess it's been good for a lot of people who've had a lot of time to not do a lot over the last year. But then I spent several hours just watching streamers play it, so I can't talk.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

This is such a goofy game and I still don't know what to think of it a week from launch.

Platinum version of Civilization VI is part of the Humble bundle expiring in a few hours (5pm GMT July 6). The freebie from Epic about a year ago was the base game iirc. Platinum includes:
  • Sid Meier's Civilization VI
    Civilization VI: Vikings Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Rise and Fall expansion
    Civilization VI: Gathering Storm expansion
Win/Mac/Linux. There are 11 other games in the bundle, mostly Windows only. I think it's US$12 to sign up.

In case anyone wanted to try Warhammer: Chaosbane, the Slayer (complete) edition is US$12 @ Green Man Gaming at the moment (Steam, Windows only). By most accounts it's a middling arpg with shitty loot and repetitive combat, but... some ppl like to collect these. Includes boosters, pets, & added skill trees.

During the last year, because I fall asleep when I read, or watch tv, then can't sleep at night, my son bought a little HP laptop for me to play games on. I started out on this one https://www.houseflippergame.com, on my Mac, but it was causing my little toy to overheat, so we got the HP just to play games. I've finished the game several times, wanted to move to the Castle version, but the Mac definitely couldn't handle it, and even the HP needed extra RAM, so now it's installed, and I'm killing rats and building medieval houses to let, so I can build myself a castle in West of Westeros.

I've also bought the new versions of the MYST games, going to play all of them again, more than a decade since I first played them. Granny gamer, that's me now. Forget cleaning my own house, I have a castle or two or three to clean of rats and other pests.

I just started playing The Outer Worlds for the first time. Edgewater is a place out of some bizarre nightmare. Everyone I've spoken to there seems so forcefully upbeat even as their settlement is hit hard year after year by the flu, so they can't be accused of being poor workers and thus losing any access to healthcare they have. They fabricate a coworker's suicide to imply that he did so after overdosing on medications with known side effects so that Edgewater itself wouldn't have to pay its parent company, Spacer's Choice, a hefty fine for damaging company property. It's so surreal.

I've come back to this paragraph a couple times but I'm both intrigued and confused. (I don't intend to get the game until it drops to ~$10, and then I probably won't touch it for a year... but idc about spoilers.) What's the "company property" then? The dead person?

Sorry; yes, all company employees are considered company property.

Delicious. So that dark sense of humor permeates the whole game? How do you like the game so far?

Funny bundle title (Non-Mandatory Corporate-Sponsored Bundle), and funny trailer last month:
