I'd like to meet him in person. He seems like a cool dude.

If we were able to create wormhole portals, wouldn't we need to create one on both sides? If so, how do we get the necessary "equipment" to the other side so a wormhole can be established and maintained?

Could we time travel if we had the possibility to stay in the vicinity of a black hole?
Is -in theory- the spacetime continuum just another dimension which could be warped to one's liking?
If so (and putting the multiverse hypothesis aside), how does this square with possibly arising time travel paradoxes, e.g. travelling to the past and preventing events from happening?

Asteroid 2004 MN4 will come scarily close to Earth on April 13, 2029, but it will not hit. What does he think will happen on the return trip Friday the 13th 2035?

I hope to be really old sitting in a chair sipping single malt on both dates

1) If space is infinite then is it not possible that the 'big bang' that causes the apparant start of our observable universe isn't a unique event but many similar events have taken place but too far away to observe - both in terms of time and space.

2) To what degree of accuracy are we certain that photons don't red-shift over time. Are we absolutely sure that the red-shifting of light from distant stars isn't due to decay over time rather than them moving away from us. If this was the case could this explain the apparant expansion of the universe.

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend...

David Hume cautioned that we cannot assume that a theory is forever good just because it worked in the past. So how can we know when to call a scientific theory "robust"? OK, we can do the observation/experiments and dismiss the null hypothesis. But how many repeats are required to call this theory robust? One? ten? A hundred? A thousand? A million? A billion? What?

As it looks now there won't be one :(

I've tried to contact him twice (following his request to send an inquiry) and so far didn't get any kind of reply.
Don't know what to make of it :dunno: Still waiting a few more days before I eventually close this thread and move these posts to another forum for everybody to discuss. He's either too busy, not interested or my inquiry simply didn't get through to him. Or a reply is yet to come but I doubt it. Sorry.

How about sending the questions by fax to his office, with a sincere and gushing covering note?

You reckon? I'm not sure, it's very likely that he actually did get my 2 requests via mail and is either too busy or doesn't care much. I mean he's probably getting dozens of requests on a daily basis anyways. I don't want to look too annoying if I'd send in a fax now, that's like requesting it for the 3rd time :(
