This video is getting quite the positive responses on various networks, Youtube video alone is already hitting the 3 million mark in two days so I guess that counts as popular?

Anyways, a guy preaching about christianity and hating on religion...yes, that's right.

So what exactly is "new" in that video despite the way it was produced? I don't get it? :scratch:

Or does he just get praise for the idea?

It is funny because Paul explicitly tells Christians how to practice religion.

My guess: Some random dude gasping for 5 minutes of fame by taking a popular subject, give it a "fresh" twist and get his two friends to record with their DSLRs in front of a church. Press it into a poem to make it sound hip and trendy and sell it to the gullible crowd. Though usually...with that formula you can't really fool those who will still spot the bullshit, at least when you look at the history of pro-belief videos that get ripped on Youtube. This one is popular though because it actually seems to go down well? :scratch:

Couldn't resist in the end.

He didn't annoy me too much 'til he said something about Jesus taking the punishment we all deserve because we're sinners. Now I may have done a couple of things I felt bad about but nothing that deserves being nailed to a cross. I don't think Jesus done anything to deserve that either. Or anyone. I don't know if maybe this religion attracts people who like to beat themselves up a lot over nothing (like watching porn - big whoop) but it's not for me to debase myself like that. I'm just a human like any other.
He says in one of the lines something like religion is the sickness and Jesus is the cure. He actually hit the nail on the head on what religions actually do but without realising it on a deeper level that could bring him beyond made up sickness and placebo to being free of hypochondria.

It's not a poem. It's more like a rap song. Kids these days, they prefer that to crack cocaine.

This is correct. Christianity tells us we're ill so it can sell us the cure. It's probably one of the more disgusting aspects of that religion, and it surprises me so few of them realise it. But then again, questioning one's religion is a big fat no no among many christians (it be da daevil!). :nono:

If the rapper in the OP's video is so hung up on the personal relationship with Jesus thing, surely he wouldn't have a bible, hell, he shouldn't have a bible! After all, if the relationship really is personal (as in, one-on-one conversations, and so on) he shouldn't have to open an old, religious book, to get his chat-up lines.

He also has a church, he said in one of the lines he loves the church, I took that to mean he loves going to the place every Sunday. I could be wrong, but that's how he came across.

I loved it as a poet, and I completely agree with the sentiment.

If this was posted trying to insinuate the guys ideas are stupid or something, which I'm not saying it was, it is FAIL in my book.

If you "love Jesus" in the sense that you believe he's a supernatural, all mighty being, then you don't hate religion.
Because that IS your religion.
