On the 19th June 2010 in Somerset we are running the very first Ancestor's trail. Based on Dawkin's book the Ancestor's Tale, the event aims to trace the course of evolution by walking pathways representing Darwin's tree of life. Website: http://www.ancestorstrail.net/
The event has been fully endorsed by Richard Dawkins and is run with support from the British Humanist Association.
To bring the event alive we hoping to find some Earth science graduates (especially Geologists) to lead, and informally interpret, along the various trails for fellow pilgrims. It would be wonderful to have a few people (more well versed than I) on the huge time scales, extinction events, plate tectonics and climatic changes we will be symbolically encountering along the trail. Sadly we haven't got any money to pay you this year, but at the journey's end we plan to celebrate with music and a speaker or two.
So, if a walk in a beautiful part of the country, followed by a beach BBQ and celebration appeals, we'd be thrilled to hear from you.
