My kids preferred to cover up their bits at about age eight, we neither encouraged or discouraged them from doing so. I think peer pressure at school had more to do with it than we did.

Didn't you know that tradition?

:this: is surprisingly accurate.

Thats why Irish girls would kill you in your sleep if they had the chance (or didn't need you alive in order to crush your spirit).

I have noticed this after having lived here a few years, it's probably true in many parts of the world, just different levels.
Down with this sort of thing.

Careful now.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

 This reminds me, my boyfriend who is Irish has never been o.k. with me giving him a kiss in public, the first time I tried he said (in a falsetto kind of voice) "no,no, think of the children".

He was probably afraid that the old women would spread gossip and the priest would find out.

Feckin' Greeks! They invented gayness!

P.S. for those not in the know, this is a reference to a popular sit com, and not casual xenophobia.

Should we all be racist now? Whats the official line the church is taking on it? Only the farm takes up most of the day and at night I just like a cup of tea, I mightn't be able to devote myself full time to the old racism.

Damnit, I think I should start advocating for making at least one beach in galway open to nudists so they can all get over the whole thing.

Now, now, you are just making the natives uncomfortable, and will only further the myth of "Swedish sin". All this covering up of the naughty bits in public places can be understood, but a friend of mine had a rude awakening when she was in the US and stripped in the changing room in some public bath or something. There were only women around her, but they were shy to show themselves naked to each other! This probably goes back to childhood and religion, being constantly told that nudity is bad. The taboo has provided plot twists (in want for better words) for untold high school comedies, though.

I know and was really just joking, it will happen though, young people in Ireland are a lot more progressive compared to their parents.

We have no shame for the children to inherit and at 3 and 5 they're nuddy in the house as much as possible. We used to wear very little clothing indoors but the other half now wears a minimum of boxers after the eldest, at approx 2 1/2, ambushed naked daddy as he got out of the bath and with an open-palmed upwards swing and a shout of 'BA-DOING' slapped his genitals from below and ran away giggling hysterically while daddy lay groaning on the cold bathroom floor.

Hmm, good thing you didn't turn up to the hot men thread a few days ago otherwise your head would be in a much worse state!
