Emotional filmlets

#1  Postby LIFE » Dec 08, 2011 9:26 pm

I'm a sucker for short stories that got captured on film so I might as well dedicate a thread to these types :)
Be it a a campaign for something, a documentary, a short fictional story or else. Emphasis on (e)motion :dopey:

Ok, so it's already been posted/discussed in this forum... but it's topical and emotional. Maybe more emotional for some than others. :)

Nice thread idea, btw.

That was brilliant!

Sky High. An interesting take on your typical High School teen film.

I remember The Night Porter by Krzysztof Kieslowski being pretty impressive. Haven't watched it for ages though.

Forgive me if this doesn't belong here. I include it for two reasons. First, simply its unmitigated joy. I dare you to watch this without smiling. Can't be done.

Second, it highlights a sadder story. Here are two geniuses who were great friends, loved performing together, and were brilliant at it. But when this was filmed (1959) there were still many restaurants, bars, etc. that wouldn't serve them together. It never fails to astonish me how long the Civil Rights Act took.

But isn't it great that we lived to see Women's Llib, the Civil Right's movement and Gay Pride? I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

For sure. I should have added that: that sad story has seen happier times recently. And what joy that is!

Yes, but as you know from the 'wonder' thread, some times things throw us back... :hugs:
