Mr. Innes is the most rational lyricist I know of.
Give him a YouTube search for loads of rational fun.

He used to have a TV programme called The Innes Book of Records, which was essentially him playing his songs as a variety of oddball characters in surreal settings. Still not on DVD, alas, but having just reminded myself of it, I've ordered the accompanying CD!

Saw him live once. Straaaaaaange evening. Came on in a shiny blue costume with clown shoes and threw confetti at the audience. (Or was it sweets? :ask:) Pitched at a childlike level. (The evening. Not the sweets.) But interesting...

Ah, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - Keynsham was just down the road from where I lived - used to go fishing there, hang around with mates, and later, drink. And sing Bonzo songs, of course.

Yes, and he backed-up George Harrison most well, too.
