But if he had waited, I wouldn't have been able to set up to record the programs, so I don't have to worry about missing them if I go out.

Thanks Nats!

Just watching the 1st one now, and I must say it's one of the best they've done.

Enjoyable, unfortunately will miss tomorrow night as at a pantomine.(I know there is always iPlayer)

It was good to see the use of visual illusions because, if nothing else, they demonstrate how easily the brain's perception of 'reality' can be skewed. I like the use of an actual Ames Room, because of the difficulty of constructing one, especially for Uni lectures, all that are ever seen are Ames' original photographs, which therefore do not actually illustrate the beauty of the original research.

The Necker Cube is also a very good illusion, but for me unfortunately I don't get the rotating part of the illusion.

The movable illusory square I have never seen, but very entertaining. I would love to find a use for some of these in my dark room! :)

I'll be honest I watched this expecting to enjoy it but not learn anything as it's aimed at children. But that part about our eyes shutting down for fractions of seconds as our eyes move was new to me! :smoke:

Me too. The moment it started revolving it appeared like a static cube to me.
We are alive, so the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe.

Does anyone have a Youtube link to last night's episode? We don't get BBC or the iPlayer over here. Thanks. :)

Me too. I was waiting for the rotating mask, where the "inside out" side seems to pop out, because this illusion gets everybody. So I was a bit surprised that he didn't use that one.

Bumping in hope.

I used to love these.
The problem with fantasies is you can't really insist that everyone else believes in yours, the other problem with fantasies is that most believers of fantasies eventually get around to doing exactly that.

Can't see them online yet. Pretty sure iplayer is UK only.

The 2010 ones are easily available though, so it should only be a matter of time.

Just to say that it's well worth watching. It was familiar territory for me but still engaging; my OH, who has no background in psychology whatsoever, did not feel that the level was inappropriate, even though it was indeed pitched at teenagers. He learnt a lot.

I've actually got these videos on my hard drive, and might get them uploaded to YouTube if I am capable and nobody else beats me to it.

So watch this space, but I'm getting drunk tonight.
