It must've been 20 years since I last saw it, and it hasn't lost its charm, despite its flaws - the overacting, the dated special effects and the large amount of material that was cut from the book (no, the awful sequels don't count). This story deserves a remake.

Ah, watched it a few times when I was little. Loved it. 8-)

I was disappointed she didn't have to fight a hungry crocodile in the lake. Survival shouldn't be *that* easy.

I re-watched Pi this weekend. I watched it a long time ago but had forgotten most of it. That is one disturbing film. But I enjoyed it again.

Dallas Buyer's Club, loved it. Matthew McConaughey was really good. The weight he lost was incredible, he looked like he was dying right enough

Five Minutes of Heaven

Storyline:

In February, 1975, in Northern Ireland, seventeen year-old UVF member Alistair Little kills the catholic Jimmy Griffin in his house in Lurgan in front of his younger brother Joe Griffin. Alistair is arrested and imprisoned for twelve years while Joe is blamed by his mother for not saving his brother. Thirty-three years later, a TV promotes the meeting of Alistair and Joe in a house in River Finn, expecting the truth and the reconciliation of the murderer and the victim who actually seeks five minutes of heaven.

Did he go for the corpse look for this only? He looked like shit on True Detective too.

Watched 'The Caine Mutiny' last night. Great performance from Bogart. Rarely will you see such a superfluous love angle in a film but that, and the annoying outbursts of military music, apart, it was a good film.

It's a direct to DVD film, but the action scenes are incredible, probably on par with The Raid.
The Raid is also cheesy. That's why it's awesome. It's the cheesiness that adds to the enjoyment of these films.
Films that focus too much time and effort on storyline, drama, character development and other bullshit in order to not come off as cheesy have to settle for mediocre fight scenes. Chinese martial arts films can have good story and good action scenes, but they always use piano wires. Personally, I hate piano wires, it's too fake. They might as well CGI that.

Plus, the hero here looks like Keanu Reeves and has similar acting skills, which is to say he is not the best actor, but at least he isn't annoying and looks convincing enough as an action movie hero.

I watched 21 Grams last night with Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro. OMFG are those guys amazing. Such a tragedy, but so powerful. This one is going to stick with me.

Never read the books so I was new to the story. If you can get over the down-right-fucking-ridiculous notion of children being better military commanders than seasoned veterans then it's actually not a bad big budget sci-fi. Probably largely thanks to Han Solo and Gandhi, although none of the child actors' performances was particularly offensive.

Last night watched 300:Rise of the Empire.

If you liked the first 300 movie, then you will enjoy this one too. Blood and gore, lots of fighting, there is a scenario and of course, I think there will be a third one. It depicts the actions of Themistocles at the time of the first 300 and after Leonidas falls in Thermopylae, against Xerxes.

Its flaw: no catch phrase like "This is Sparta" from the first movie.

All in all: I enjoyed it.
