Well, you should like Aliens at least

I don't even think I's reached adulthood yet when I saw it. I know I saw it when a little kid, and didn't care for it. I think I liked the cat. I remember it as a horror movie. Generally not a fan of that genre.
I hope it's not a jump scare movie. I hate that shit. Just tell the fucking story, it should stand on it's own merits. :dopey:

Alien certainly tells a story and tells it very well...whether it's a jump movie too, you'll just have to watch it to find out.

Alright, Alien is my next film. :)

It's ok to jump scare, but not when it's a firend behind them holding a bag of food, things like that. The jumps should be real.

For fans of Aliens...

Meet ace model-maker Patrick McClung, who worked on that movie and many others. In the cabinet behind him you'll see miniatures from the original Battlestar Galactica (1978).
In the remainder of the video you'll see just how much of Aliens (1986) was accomplished with exquisitely crafted miniature sets and vehicles...

Alien probably edges it for me- but both great.

Alien and Aliens are the entire franchise in my eyes. I like that they complement each other so well thematically: most of what's treated in the first film is enlarged in the second. They're fairly feminine films too, as odd as that is to say. It's not simply that the lead character is a woman, but also that the metaphors and imagery are mostly to do with women.

So Alien was pretty good, in spite of 3 jump-scares that were not real scares (2 cat, 1 shelf knocked over), the bad guy/beast needing to be killed two or more times (twice), and heroine partially undressed and fleeing from monster.
I enjoyed it. It was well-made, and reasonably well thought out. The sets were cool, except for mother. That's the tired old "smart but evil computer" thing. I'm not sure how tired that theme was in 1980. The 25000 flashing lights pissed me off. As if a human would knw what they all meant, and be able to follow them.
Alright, I'm laying the criticism on a little thick here, I admit. Good movie, bottom line.

I remember seeing part of a sequel and it was garbage. A video game movie. Didn't Ripley get infected?

Controversial opinion: Prometheus was a worthy addition to the series.

Well I for one agree with Naughtyladea. We are a Prometheus-enjoying household.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

I'm painting the 'God hates Prometheus Fans' placard as we speak and will be picketing your household some time this afternoon, traffic allowing. Please have tea and biscuits available. Thank you.

Fans? Ha! There's only like two of them. That's barely plural.

I would actually enjoy that. I'd actually enjoy you picketing my household with placards. Yeah, doesn't seem like such a good idea now, does it.
