They were going to call it The Avengemenator.

So, uh... I'm watching Replicas (2018). I mean, it could be worse, so it's go that going for it. Despite some unintentional laughs (but some intentional) and slightly wet cardboard acting, it's actually dealing with some moderately interesting topics in a mildly interesting way. Maybe the acting is intentional, conveying the vacant and cardboard nature of what they're doing. It's got Keanu Reaves in it! Of course, you need somebody as fit as that to operate those computer user interfaces à la Minority Report.

---

Right, I've just finished watching it.

Was expecting more of a train wreck, but the super-cheesy dialogue and questionable computer graphics kept me watching. Some thrill, some action, some tension. What could have been another bad Netflix sci-fi production turned out to be a nearly passable Hollywood sci-fi production.

4.5/10

(The ending broke my cheeseometer.)

Downton Abbey the film. Very enjoyable evening tho some are showing their age...still a well done and familiar setting and caste with some plot twists.

FFS, are people meant to look 20 forever? I hate it when ageing is seen as a downside in the world of acting. People shouldn’t lose their importance just because they get older. Looking one’s age is called being normal, and that age goes hand in hand with experience. An experienced actor is a joy to behold. Ageist bullshit. :nono:

We watched Eli. It was decent, with a twist at the end which was slightly bum clenching, but much of it was done quite well.

Also Wounds with Armie Hammer and Dakota Johnson. Same director as Under the Shadow, Jennifer. Again, decent, but the ending was lacking, as it so often is. It’s so hard to write a good ending.

Oh, I was just running out of films. So these will do nicely.

I also watched A Separation (2011) the other day.

Not a whole lot to say about this one. A drama about an Iranian family breaking up. And, for what it is, I'd say it's pretty much perfect. Engrossing, well-acted, thoughtful, and full of those moments where you want people to just break out of their habits and show each other mercy and grace.

Good reviews when it premiered here at TIFF.

I could make a joke about bum clenching. I could, but I won't. Just know I have it and it'd shatter your entire worldview. It would lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground.

This was jaw dropping, best movie of 2019 for me.

Fractured

Started "Eli" but kid's "please dont that, oh no" pissed me off.

That woman be cray cray. Not that I know who she is, you understand. Or any of the others. Nope. No idea.
