Yes, it has been a long time—too long. I miss everyone here, and I'm sorry I was away for so long.
The intervening years have been rough. Several deaths of close loved ones, illness, divorce (entirely amicable, but still traumatic), job loss, some other stuff...
But a big fault of mine is that when things get tough I tend to shrink back into myself rather than reach out for help—no matter how much I miss my friends. And you folks have been really good friends. So I'm glad to be back. Hopefully I'm still welcome at the party.
How have you been? And Thommo—how about you?

Shit man, that's a damn rough patch. Sometimes the shit just keeps coming. How you holding up?
We're OK. Mrs. Lak lost her mum a year ago, and inherited property and business interests in Swaziland. She's over there now for 5 weeks, trying to get stuff sorted out. It's taking a looong time. Otherwise just older, uglier, and poorer.

Hi Orph! You're missed greatly. Sad to hear life's been rough, I hear that about turning in instead of reaching out, I tend to do the same thing. Anyway I hope things have smoothed out at least a little bit, and so very glad you're back.
