Only really liked Superunknown and Screaming Life, but man are those records amazing. What a set of pipes on that guy, really the only singer from that era worthy to take the torch from Robert Plant, surpassing him in many ways IMHO.
Nothing makes a 90's kid feel old like all your grunge guys dying

The latest is that the police are investigating it as a possible suicide; between that and drugs overdoses that's a sadly typical way for a grunge singer to go. There haven't been a lot taken from us by natural courses over the years, that's for sure.

I got laid to Superunknown once. Not because it was the guy's fave or anything but because my Dad had his copy of the album in the house and we needed to drown out any noises.
It was a bad enough memory and now that Chris Cornell's dead it's even worse.
One of the bands that I was in in my youth was accused on more than one occasion of being "Soundgarden wannabees". Our singer had a fake ID with the name "Christopher T. Cornell" on it. So yeah, you could say that we were Soundgarden fans.
I always felt that the "grunge" label was a bit unfair to Soundgarden. They were a bit more technical and precise than the other grunge bands, and they were actually somewhat competent musicians unlike the others. Their frequent use of unconventional time signatures also set them apart. They weren't quite metal either though...
So Cornell dies at 52, and the hate peddler and serial harasser Ailes makes it to 77. Shit ain't right.

The drum roll at the beginning of Hands All Over is ridiculous.
I remember the first time I heard Louder Than Love I had the volume at a level my ma wouldn't give out about. The first song played fine then Hands All Over, the second song, came on. When the drums hit, and shook the house, my mother flew out of the sitting room and roared up the stairs to, "Turn that shit down."
Funnily enough I didn't have to lower it at all. The rest of the album went back to normal.
BBC news is saying he hanged himself. So sad. here
The Bible is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies. Mark Twain
