Calculation space is 4d. 1 3d slice rendered here using opengl/c++

Like... Conway's Game of Life in 4d? Awesome. Wish it was possible to see, or at least imagine what the real deal would look like instead of this lower dimensional slice..

I used to play a lot with different GoL programs in the past. If someone wants to try something neat with very simple beginning, try this starting position with standard rules: (it starts with fireworks and eventually ends with 12 free gliders)

Code: Select all
X_X
XXX
X_X
XXX
X_X

_ = empty space. Came up with this all by myself long ago. Was so proud :D  Never got to show anyone / no one cared. Sniff
Well that was awkward.

Have you ever noticed anything resembling gliders, by the way, something that appears to be moving through space indefinitely, still retaining it's form? Are those even possible in games higher than two dimensions?

(and sorry about that silly self-promotion, can't edit it away anymore)
Well that was awkward.
