The kooky singer has called off the Jakarta date of her 'Born This Way' tour after religious extremists threatened to cause chaos if she entered the country.
The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) call Lady Gaga a "devil's messenger" and say her provocative dance moves and sexy clothes will corrupt the youth of the country.
Despite efforts to go through with the gig, the American songstress' management released a statement today confirming the June 3 concert had been cancelled.
Minola Sebayang, lawyer for promoter Big Daddy Promotion said: "Lady Gaga's management has considered the situation minute to minute, and with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling off the concert.
"This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."

The Jakarta chairman of the FPI said: "FPI is grateful that she has decided not to come.
"Indonesians will be protected from sin brought about by this Mother Monster, the destroyer of morals. Lady Gaga fans, stop complaining. Repent and stop worshipping the devil.
"Do you want your lives taken away by God as infidels?"

Indonesia's has a concept in its state doctrine called Pancasila which is a blend of monotheism and nationalism.

There is no freedom of religion unless officially sanctioned religions and there is no freedom for non-believers.

Hopefully the Lady Gaga concert events will highlight the severe human right problems in that country.

I disagree. Do we praise the creators of South Park and the network for their self-censorship? Do we praise Borders Books for pulling from the racks Free Inquiry magazine when it did print the Danish cartoons? The only way I could possibly support Gaga's decision is if she released a statement stating not only the reasons for her decision (safety of her fans) - but also loudly and clearly lambasting the fundamentalists for holding us hostage to their evil and contemptible threats.

That would have been a much more complete response. However, I agree with her decision.

On the other hand, she's fuckin' wierd and her "music" sucks. I just can't find myself being bothered about where she does or doesn't play.

Lady Gaga's fans here are planning a protest, but I doubt that a significant number will show up.
