I thought it was clothes minded.

They have been wearing turtlenecks for so long they can't think of wearing anything else, nor do they try.

Piffle. It's reasonable to use a hyphen in a compound adjective. :smug:

Hey now, there's no need to be sartorial.

But so does the moon?

How do they not collide with each other :ask:

It is a mystery.

I once thought teachers were all of a certain educational standard. Then I roomed with some trainees at uni. :nono: I'm hoping that one just got muddled.

She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

I had a science teacher once who told the class Meteorology was the study of meteors.

''I looked-up on the web-site and saw people had not thought-out their answers. I flipped-out and decided to stay at-home.''

I guess the problem there is that English doesn't really have any consistent rule for when a compound phrase should have dashes or not. And since the examples in actual use don't seem to follow really obvious patterns, when the speakers try to figure out the rules by analogy from the material available to them it gets inconsistent and haphazard.

Come on, context. Was it an English teacher ("the sun moved majestically around us in the sky") or a physics teacher ("I hereby resign")?

My daughter was at primary school at the time, they don't have different teachers for different subjects.
