That's a real shame, because the fringe events are good, and the main ones even better! http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.com/science If you can make it down the trains are good and it's only half an hour or so down the M5, I'd definitely be up for a drink. :)

I might be up for something ....

Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earthbound misfit, I

Always wanted to go to it but its just so ridiciously expensive, if they have some general pass for it I would be quite prepared to pay £80-£100 or so for it but paying £8-£10 per lecture is just silly.

Yep. As you may have gathered from my blog I too have issues with pricing, but the superb fringe events were all free. If you want to come next year let me know and I'll help you work something out for cheap accommodation etc, I live here so it's easy for me :)

Always be curious if normal members of the public actually go to the main events or is just professional scientists and press?

Teenagers, lots of young women, some tweedy gents, a real mix, yes. But a huge number of science journalists too.
