Hello, Gnostic here

#1  Postby Snulbug » Sep 24, 2011 8:35 am

I think of myself as a Gnostic light. I share some of what I consider the important Gnostic beliefs but I must admit I can't make head or tails of their cosmology. But I don't think that matters anyway.

Carl Gustav Jung showed some interest in the Gnostics and as far as I know, he said they inspired him in developing the concept of archetypes.

Welcome!!

Welcome!

What kind of gnosticism do you subscribe to in a light form? Any connections whatsoever to any historic community of gnostic believers? What does this entail in real life? I find this a fascinating topic from a sort of scholarly point of view - I don't find the beliefs per se interesting (as in, I would probably never adopt any of those beliefs except such beliefs that are quite uncontroversial even among atheists), but knowing what approaches and perspectives as well as beliefs modern-day gnostics have would be of great interest to me.

Just been near Beziers, and saw a funeral, with the Priest outside. Wanted to shout remember the Cathars but my French isn't good enough and not really appropriate behaviour!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

-There seems to be a plethora of different views under the 'Gnosticism' umbrella, so perhaps you could outline exactly what you believe, and why? :)

Hello and welcome from Canada, Snullbug!

I don't know much about the Gnostics. This is a good prod for me to look it up and do some reading, so thanks!
