I used to be a Christian ... once upon a time

#1  Postby Spectrox War » Aug 15, 2011 7:45 pm

I used to be a Christian. I thought I was saved and believed Jesus loved me. But then I started to question it. I had faith that God would answer all of my questions eventually. But he never did. I was just talking to myself.

Christianity is basically an Iron Age myth that is based on a Bronze Age myth. It has given the world a psychological disease called "sin" which transmits like a virus and then has provided a “cure” for this disease. Christianity is demonstrably wrong from various standpoints - moral, logical & scientific. It has been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. Believers are stuck in their own circular argument which is based on the loophole of faith. No amount of evidence or logic will have any effect on the faithful, so brainwashed have they become. They have turned into what their fictitious God wanted them to be - sheep-like sycophants to an idea. It’s about time they grew up and let this absurdist nonsense go. It’s ok to be authentic and it’s ok not to be afraid.

Sounds fair enough. Welcome to RatSkep.

Hi Spectrox

"Once upon a time" would have been a good opening line for Genesis......and if I dare add two words...
They have turned into what they imagined their fictitious God wanted them to be -

Enjoy.

It may be that ministers really think that their prayers do good and it may be that frogs imagine that their croaking brings spring - Robert Ingersoll.

Welcome Simon.

No amount of evidence or logic will have any effect on the faithful, so brainwashed have they become.

You yourself have proved this isn't always so!

Welcome!
We are alive, so the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe.
