Hi, um, I'm new here.
I've used these types of forums before but never one on these discussions. Would someone please explain this site to me??

Here's a helpful diagram which should explain it.

My suggestion is to have a good look around, find topics that interest you, have a good read and get your bearings. Jump in whenever you feel ready.

Oh, and welcome!

Hi, um, Babe, and welcome!

Based on your userid, you could start with the Evolution forum.

Then, if you're into face-palming, you could try the Creationism forum. I'll let you find that one by yourself. ;)

Hiya Evolution_Babe2012 and welcome.

How to get stuck in is easy as pie. Go to the Board Index i.e. http://www.rationalskepticism.org/ scroll down and pick a Forum, then pick a topic that piques your interest and glance through it then pile in at the end. If you are replying to someone then PLEASE use the "QUOTE button which is on each post.

That button inserts their text into your post. Don't change their text but just add your reply to the bottom and then click "Preview" to see if it looks OK and then "Submit". As a new member people will be tolerant of errors.

If you want you can start a new Topic but please post it into the correct Forum and it really has to be a topic for debate or discussion i.e. something others can reply to not just posting a "Fact".

Have fun.

To understand it it might help to understand it's history. Most of the original users and founding members were part of Richard Dawkins' forum over on his website RDF.net. A website that promoted nontheism and science. When that closed down many of us headed over here thanks to our Admin LIFE creating this forum for us.

RatSkep is quite similar to the original forum, but not identical. We have many science forums here, on all the main sciences. We have the Nontheism and Theism forums where believers and nonbelievers have it out. We the Debunk forums, where we talk about anything from ID and creationism to conspiracy theories. We also have a very active Politics forum were lefties and righties debate. And the Arts forums where anything from high art to cheesy TV shows are discussed. Then there's the General Forum which includes Social & Fun, where the members go to chill out and get to know each other better. Oh, and there's the Language forum, where people who speak other languages other than English hang.

Hope this helps. :)
