The Japanese government has blocked legal efforts to clamp down on child pornography, with the country becoming the world's "kiddie porn superpower," according to a pressure group

Twenty people were arrested this week for posting child pornography on a mobile phone web site that was set up by a 17-year-old high school student, while Japan was shocked earlier this year at the arrest of a mother who took indecent images of her infant son and sold them via the internet

Well there are plenty of schools in the UK where girls will be wearing school uniforms 2 years after the age of consent (a law that only exists precisely because we know that men naturally find girls attractive before that age). The school uniform is just another manifestation of the male fantasy of the subservient or "innocent" woman, like the nurse's outfit, or the maid, or the secretary, or any other number of porn scenarios you can think of that put the man in control (and there are plenty that are the opposite, while we mention it, like the policewoman or the dominatrix). You're not a paedophile for finding real schoolgirls attractive (well not necessarily), nevermind someone dressed up in a costume. Why d'you think "back to school" nights are so popular in university? It can't just be remembering the old music. They're quite common in the UK, and we can't have that many paedophiles. Although having said all that, if we define child porn as anything where the person involved is under 18 (and we do), then the whole schoolgirl thing could quite obviously be a contributory factor. Although I understand that school continues to 18 in Japan, which is also the effective age of consent.

If you were going to look at anything in Japan, I think I'd point to anime first and foremost.

I lived there for two years, so I'm thinking the total package here. Anime, hentai, etc., all tied into what the consumer wants.

In any case I'm thankful not all anime is like that (at least it wasn't when I watched it), I couldn't stand the doe-eyed ones - Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop was much better :smile:
