Shirtless protesting may be catching on in Toronto.
Around a dozen people without much anything on above the waist showed up to an anti-Rob Ford rally as the mayor entered Newstalk 1010’s studios at Richmond St. W. and Duncan St. for an interview with host Jerry Agar.
Nearly all the men were shirtless and some women sported bikini tops. They held anti-Ford signs and shouted at passing cars to “honk if they wanted the mayor” to resign from office....

Toronto Councillor Doug Ford has accused the father of an autistic child of being part of a "jihad" against him and his brother.
On Thursday, city employee Tommy Lenathen filed a complaint with Toronto's integrity commissioner over controversial comments Doug Ford made in May about the Griffin Centre, a residential group home for disabled youth in his ward.
At a community meeting, Doug Ford said the facility "ruined" the neighbourhood.
"My heart goes out to kids with autism. But no one told me they’d be leaving the house," he said.
Lenathen wants Doug Ford to resign his seat, apologize publicly to the Griffin Centre and take sensitivity training, The Toronto Sun reports.
Doug Ford's response to the dad? "He can go to hell."
Doug Ford also suggested to the Sun that he thinks the recent complaints against him and the mayor have been politically motivated....
Earlier in the week, Doug Ford accused Toronto teacher Joe Killoran, now better known as the "shirtless jogger" who confronted the mayor on Canada Day, of being "racist" toward the mayor.
When pressed about his claim, Doug Ford offered a bizarre definition of racism.
"It doesn't have to be about race. You can be a racist against people that eat little red apples. You can be a racist against people that have a drinking problem. You can be racist against people that are too fat," Doug Ford said. "So that's my answer to that."...
Mayor Rob Ford pushed and scuffled with fellow rehab residents and was so verbally abusive that he was kicked out of his group therapy program, according to people who have knowledge of his two month stay at GreeneStone .
These accounts of what one person referred to as “destructive behaviour” stands in stark contrast to Ford’s recent public statements that he had a healthy experience and takes his recovery seriously.
“Ford broke things, got into fights with other residents,” said one source with knowledge of the mayor’s time in rehab at the resort-turned-drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Muskoka.
“Ford stopped people from sharing their stories, which is key to a successful rehab experience,” said another source. “Other residents felt intimidated. They felt he was a bully. He was always saying he did not belong there.”
Management was concerned Ford continued to use drugs or alcohol during his time in rehab. The Star was unable to determine if Ford abused any substances during his two month stint....
Hoping to become the third Ford to join city politics and fill the seat where both his uncles have served, Michael Ford has signed up to run for councillor in Etobicoke North.
Earlier this year, Mayor Rob Ford and Councillor Doug Ford — both uncles to the new candidate, whom they call “Mikey” — were coy about whether Michael was serious about joining the race.
City records showed Friday that the son of Kathy Ford had officially signed up in Ward 2 — his uncle Doug Ford’s current ward and Rob Ford’s ward for 10 years before he became mayor in 2010.
According to his Facebook page, Michael Ford went to high school in Etobicoke before attending business school at Humber College. His LinkedIn profile says he is expected to graduate in 2016....
Ford, according to Facebook, is a camp counsellor at Camp Kandalore in Haliburton and has been an account executive at Deco Labels and Tags, the family business run by Doug Ford and before him by Doug Ford Sr., also a politician who served as an MPP at Queen’s Park....
Toronto’s government has an explicit rule: no permits will be granted to people looking to use city parks for the “use or promotion of a particular candidate” during an election period.
Rob Ford just issued the invitation for his annual Ford Fest barbecue. The location: Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough.
City spokeswoman Jackie DeSouza said the permit has not been granted yet — but that it won’t break the rules. The explanation: the Fords did not describe Ford Fest as a political event on their application.
Rather, DeSouza said, they called it a “special event open to the public.”
“Staff have to go by what it says on the permit application,” she said.
She added: “It would be up to the mayor and Councillor Ford to ensure the policy is adhered to at the event.”
