Puppy covered in mud and glue found at point of death in Istanbul

Image

A stray puppy that was left for dead after being covered in glue by children in Istanbul is making a slow recovery, daily Hürriyet has reported.

The puppy was struggling to move and was barely breathing when it was found by locals late last week.

Locals who found the puppy took it to a veterinarian for medical examinations.

One of the dog’s ears was completely clogged due to glue and mud.

It was no accident, though. "Accident" implies no one was at fault.

Yellowstone accident victim dissolved in boiling acidic pool

#125  Postby Shrunk » Nov 18, 2016 10:11 pm

The remains of a man who died in a hot spring accident in Yellowstone National Park were dissolved before they could be recovered, it has emerged.

Colin Scott, 23, died in June in an illegal attempt to soak, or "hot pot", in the US park's thermal pools.

The accident was recorded by the victim's sister on her mobile phone, the incident report says....

"The whole area is geothermally active," Yellowstone's deputy chief ranger Lorant Veress told KULR 8, which broke the story.

"There's a closure in place to protect people from doing that for their own safety. It's a very unforgiving environment...."

Rescue teams later found (Scott's) body in the pool but abandoned attempts to retrieve it due to the decreasing light available, the danger to themselves and an approaching lightning storm.

The following day, workers were unable to find any significant remains in the boiling water.

"In a very short order, there was a significant amount of dissolving," Mr Veress said....

Sounds like suicide rather than an accident to me. I mean, you voluntarily walked into boiling water.

I thought he was off path, then fell in. But even so, he went off path, as did his girlfriend.

From the BBC story:

(T)he pair had been specifically looking for an area to soak in the thermal springs, despite the potential danger and warning signs.

Ms Scott was recording a video of her brother on the phone as he reached down to test the water, before he slipped and fell in.

Sick fucking world...

18 donkeys skinned alive
2017-01-30

Chelsea Pieterse, The Witness

The hunt is on for over 100 donkeys that have disappeared from a plot of land near the Lesotho border where 18 donkeys were found skinned alive this past week.

The horrifying discovery of the dead donkeys, which are believed to have been cruelly slaughtered for the Chinese medicinal market, has raised fears as to the fate of the missing donkeys.
...

...
NSPCA farm animal unit manager Grace de Lange said the Sani Pass SPCA reported that the 18 donkeys were killed on Thursday evening. On Sunday morning the live donkeys were nowhere to be seen.

It is believed that a metal object is inserted into the donkeys’ necks to paralyse them and they are then skinned alive.
“It is a long and painful death,” she said.

Turkey to pass new law after puppy's killing stirs outrage

Turkish politicians voiced support on June 16 for a new law to prevent violence against stray animals after the horrible killing of a puppy stirred outrage throughout the country.

A puppy was found on June 13 by passersby in a wooded area in the Sapanca district of the western province of Sakarya, fighting for its life as four of its feet were cut off.

Locals hospitalized the dog, which succumbed to injuries two days later, despite an emergency operation in Istanbul.

Dr. Berktuğ Çiftçi, who operated the dog, said that its paws were cut off by an axe or a similar man-made tool.

Only four of its feet?
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

It's awful. The wording just made me laugh. How many feet do they think a dog has? It looks like the entirety of the legs, anyway, not just the feet. I will never understand how someone can be so cruel.
