Fallible wrote:How about people who claim to be mediums and who go on TV and act like they're going into trances and put on the voices of the dead, do they have a mental condition? Or those who go on TV to claim they can see people's guardian angels? How about those who go on TV talking about their conversations with God?
melchior wrote:Generally people who go on TV claiming to be mediums eg pakora are doing it for financial gain/claiming to provide a service. This woman is being held up to ridicule on This Morning - yes her claim is ridiculous, but pointing and laughing is not the same as debunking.

melchior wrote:She was wheeled on to be laughed at. It wasn't a constructive debate or debunking. It was risible. If that great bastion of investigative journalism 'this morning' were really interested in a debate, they'd get on someone like Pakora or the 'most haunted' team and hang them out to dry.
Instead they've trawled social media (or the webz) for someone to be held up to ridicule.

I'm not so sure.
She's got quite a web presence.

Strontium Dog wrote:I don't think you should mock people simply for being physically ugly. Having an ugly personality, perhaps, but I wouldn't trust certain self-appointed authorities to be able to tell the difference between those things, so it's probably best to mock nobody, lest those certain self-appointed authorities attack you on false grounds.
