There's an interesting experiment called FMCW, specifically FMCW self-heterodyne measurements, which can only be effectively explained using a continuous field. Attempts to explain it with a quantized electromagnetic field have proven unsuccessful.
Check out the paper for more details: Disproving the Existence of Photons.
However, a concern arises regarding the lack of peer review for this experiment. The reason behind this absence is outlined here: The Lack of Fundamental Scientific Publication Standards in Physics, Their Handling of Dissent, and the Implications for Progress.
If you happen to have access to a swept source and the other material used in the experiment, and if you hold a different opinion or can provide an explanation using a quantized field, please feel free to drop me a message or consider writing a paper on the subject. As of now, such an explanation is yet to be presented.
