Favourite Movie Moments

If you haven't seen Chasing Amy and don't know or want to know the premise of the movie, don't watch this:

I love Banky's (Jason Lee) reactions.

I love that Chasing Amy moment!

Personally, my favorite bit is repeated throughout The Big Lebowski--the idea that his rug "really tied the room together."

The famous baby scene from Trainspotting is classic:

Do not listen to this if you hate getting creepy songs in your head:

FAR and AWAY absolutely one of my favorite movies of ALL time! I love the whole postmodern idea of a film whose entire premise revolves solely around a man seeking compensation for a rug which was "micturated upon" (and by "Wang" no less)!

That bit in The Blues Brothers between the start and the finish.

It's quite high on the list for me, too. I couldn't even tell you how many times I"ve watched it.

I recently watched Days of Heaven, and I have to say that the scene where the rancher confronts Bill after lighting his field on fire was pretty beautiful/intense. Although, that whole movie is one amazing moment after another.

The ending to (the original) Planet of the Apes.

A real "impact" moment, even if the "surprise" (as if anyone doesn't know it by now!) was given away by the final scene being represented on the DVD box cover, as a friend of mine found when he rented it.

rJD, you are quite right about the DVD case. You have to wonder if the people who design these things have ever watched a movie...

It was of course that remarkable moment that meant Tim Burton's Planet Of The Apes remake was doomed from the outset. There's no point repeating that scene, and you certainly can't top it, so downhill is the only option. Which is what they went for...

Another spectacular moment is of course Rutger Hauer in the rain. I am sure I have said enough. - EDIT: Oh, beaten to it I see!

A beautifully understated piece of direction, from an extraordinary movie. I would have posted the famous "Top of the world!" scene from the finale, but can't find a usable clip.

Or there's this, of course, from Angels With Dirty Faces.
