Is it just me or is this season the funniest and most cerebral yet?

Have to admit, I've never been able to get into this show. Seen some episodes now and again (season 1 and 2 probably), but it never really stuck. I feel like I'm missing something. Any recommendations on a good place to start? Are the movies good?

I love Futurama. My all time favourite show. If anyone owns it on DVD, I heartily recommend that you listen to the audio commentaries with the writers and cast. They are always entertaining and sometimes even funnier than the episode.
