Ghostbusters

#1  Postby physalis17 » Sep 13, 2010 5:42 pm

Who else here is a big Ghostbusters fan? I love Ghostbusters and have been obsessed with the movies, games, and cartoons since I was a little kid. I know RGB inside and out and I also enjoy XGB. I have a question for some of the uber fans out there. Do you consider XGB canon?

Whenever I ask that question I get either two responses. A.) I haven't seen XGB or B.) I don't like XGB. I actually like XGB and do consider it canon because there are quite a few reference to RGB and there were even some ghosts that appeared in XGB that were originally in RGB like the Grundel. They even had an episode where the original boys in gray are back in the saddle.

I also consider the Ghostbusters game for PS3 and 360 the 3rd movie. Personally my trilogy is complete as far as a 3rd movie goes.

So discuss and ask anything Ghostbusters related.

I still have the Ghostbusters game for Genesis. I never played the Commodore64 version. Is it better than the NES version or is it about the same?

How should I know? Or even remember?
It must be near to 30 years since I played it.

Oh sorry. I thought you still had the game. I still have my Ghostbusters game. Haven't played it in awhile though. I do miss my toys from when I was a kid. I had the Firehouse, the proton pack with the foam proton stream and the trap with the little green ghost. I also had a couple of those figurines where their eyes popped out and turned into other monsters.

I had some of the pink slime and I poured it down the firehouse on my mom's carpet and she had a fit. XD

I know! The first time I saw it I just thought "Hell yeah!" lol! I've got your blog bookmarked DocterE and I sometimes comment on some of the videos. Your blog is always a good way to start my morning. :coffee:

I had a ghost busters sweatshirt and lunch box... I was such a cool kid! I've only experienced the film(s). The first VHS tape we had of it got so worn we had to buy another. I've recently bought the DVD, sadly the kids weren't impressed and spent most of the time running out of the room.... too much for toddlers?!

Loved the films - could never understand the junk reputation of the second one, it was loads of fun. My further involvement with the franchise extends no further than buying my mate a GB T-shirt for Christmas. :dopey:

Ghostbusters is one of my favourite movies of all time, along with Casablanca, Help! and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

  • I named my Ibanez RG electric guitar "Dr. Venkman."
  • I had my very own Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, but gave it to my daughter's boyfriend who is also a GB fan.
  • And I met Dan Aykroyd a couple of weeks ago.
I'm looking forward to Ghostbusters III.

I have no idea what RGB and XGB are, but I do remember as a kid one of the Ghostbusters was a man in a gorilla suit with a propellor on his head. I think that should have been canon, and was a tragic omission from the movies.

Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters respectively, I'd imagine.

I used to watch Extreme Ghostbusters (Xtreem!) as a littl'un. The episode with the house that was the ghost frightened the shit out of me.

That might be so bad it's good.
