Well that's an appropriate response.
If I had been told that there was an actual active torture scene in GTA 5, I would't have bought it. But I wouldn't have called for the game cancellation. Because that's just stupid.

I loathed that scene, even if it was clearly parody. It didn't affect my overall opinion that the game as a whole was brilliant though.

GTA as a series is crude and repugnant. It not only depicts unspeakable acts but has the player carry them out routinely, and for in-game incentives. I can fully understand why many people are revolted by it and it's certainly not for children.

None of that is even the least reason to ban or censor it though. For that you'd need to know that it was negatively affecting people's behaviour in real life, and there's not the least evidence (when looking at the evidence as a whole) that's the case.

It's been years, does that mission not have an option to skip it entirely with no impact to your progress or play through?

Rockstar do self censor to a degree in GTA games. There's a reason that Schools and School Buses do not exist in any modern GTA game.

I don't remember the option, but maybe I missed it of course.

I don't remember the mission at all. I certainly wouldn't have skipped it.

I'm 90% sure there was a warning beforehand and an option to skip the whole thing.

I generally don't take those self-censorship options when they are given, there's no way to know how I'll feel about a scene until I get there and actually see it. Missing a whole mission rather than just skipping the actual torture part would not have appealed to me at the time, I suspect. It's too long ago to specifically remember though.

ETA: Threads like this from the time of the game don't seem to indicate there was a skip option. Maybe it was patched in on later released versions?

My brothers gave me Super Mario Oddyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch for my birthday yesterday. :yay: Haven't yet had time to try them, but I should be able to find a few hours tomorrow.

It's been on sale almost none-stop since autumn. Same with the new Wolfenstein and Nioh.

Been trying one of the games I supported in early access: Project Nimbus.
It's made by a small indi studio. They've upgraded the graphics and released a full campaign since last I played. They've also added the option for a 1st person cockpit view, next to the standard 3d person suit view.
And the latest patch added Japanese audio.
The game is as close to a gundam game without actually being a gundam game.
It's quite fun.
