You know what I would be all over? An officially developed emulator for the handheld Nintendo doodads and an attached Steamesque environment where I can buy the games. I would be delirious with joy.

I'll buy a console if it has a catalogue I am sufficiently interested in. The PS4 doesn't, since most good games on there are on PC as well.

But...it looks like you won't buy a console if it has a catalogue that you're sufficiently interested as long as they're also available on the PC. So they only way they could entice you is by doing exclusives, which you hate

That was more or less code for "Nintendo consoles are the only ones I might buy, for the first party titles". It's still shitty and - to my mind - loads of lost money not to publish those on PC as well, but at least they're doing their own thing you don't get anywhere else. Sony and MS, though? Feh, I say. Feh!

I do agree it would be awesome if everyone published their games on many platforms, but I can also sorta understand why. I'm sure it's a good amount of additional work for each system you add, so the lost audience probably not worth it for some. Especially if a particular platform makes it worth their while to be exclusive, which sounds bad on paper but doesn't really bother me. I guess it's because for as long as I've been playing them, most games have been platform specific. But I do share your sentiment about Sony and MS at least a little

As a matter of fact, exclusives just earn them a couple of hate-points in my book. I don't like anti-consumer tactics like that.

I think if most people share your "if it's also on PC then why bother" then they're basically obliged to use these tactics.

Or, you know, provide a machine worth buying without these tactics.

But how would they do that? Wouldn't they basically just be making a PC?

Some DS games, I'd really love to be able to play on a big screen. Some games, it's part of the pleasure of it playing on a little handheld. I've used a DS emulator, it just isn't the same.

Then again a lot of the games would be difficult to port. They would have to remake the game to function with a normal controller.

That's what Sony and MS are doing right now, which is another reason why I don't need their stuff. I already have a machine that puts their consoles to shame in every aspect. Everything they can do, my machine can do better.
Take a Nintendo 3DS, for example. Where else could you get what it offers? I'm not saying you'd necessarily need it, but if you're looking for that this is pretty much the only machine that does what it does.

Slightly off topic, but I always feel like a badass when I'm out in public with my purple 3DS and I'm playing Pokemon or Fireemblem. :P

Tried Cities: Skylines.

Considering who the developers are, not a huge company, it is better than the Sim City series and more detailed.

Also, unlike most Sim games, with maybe the exception of Societies, you can actually manage to have a positive balance. I could even work off being from -7000~ credit to being over 1000+ income without stepping in the loan-trap.

But, it gets kinda boring. I mean, you can say that about any game, then. I build a small little town and...then, what? :dunno:

Killed an afternoon, yesterday, anyway.

Went back to Destiny to grind up another level before the DLC next month. Honestly, it's going to have to be something really, really special because last night felt like an unholy chore.

There are rumours of a proper expansion pack coming in the Autumn, but if that is going to be almost the price of a full game Bungie have to restore a lot of good will with this DLC to dig themselves out of this grave.

Went back to Stonehearth, for the alpha 9 version. It's an extremely promising game, a kind of mix between an RPG, a STR and a sandbox.
You start in a randomly generated area, with 7 "earthlings". You need to feed, protect them, provide them shelter building houses. You need to take care of each of them, specializing them into a specific job to build everything you need. Every day, if you have enough food, wealth and hapiness, another earthling will join you.
Monsters will appear, and their behaviour will depend on your actions. Accumulate lots of goods, and goblins will come to raid you.
Right now, the game is playable, and shows great potential. I can't way to see how it will go in the end.

I finished The Last of Us a few days ago. It's a nice little game; the ending was unexpectedly sudden though, I was like ''umm, oh it's over. ..ok then"

Next up, Bloodborne! Better be playable
