We have a prologue for season 9:
"Respect for personal beliefs = "I am going to tell you all what I think of YOU, but don't dare retort and tell what you think of ME because...it's my personal belief". Hmm. A bully's charter and no mistake."

Though I liked the first episode, it also felt a bit overloaded.
Looking forward to next week.

Welp, that's the budget for the entire series blown on the first episode. It's bubble wrap and green paint from here on in.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

i thought it was chuffing fab - ok, it suffered from over-stuffing at times but, if that's setting the precedent for this series, i'm a very happy fan...

really looking forward to the capaldi one-hander.....(and, no, that's not a naughty thing....;) )

Just watched it - very dark but gripping.

Hinestly the with him in the 1100s was hilarious. Loved every second of it.
Of course we know what he will and be doing next eoisode, but I am excited to see how its resolved. Very happy with this episode.
Only gripe I had, and it was minor, was that survival is only a matter of choice. Think it bothered me in light of the statements on psychiatric drugs in the trees episode.

Nah, that started with Matt Smith already.
Damn cliffhanger this week.

Might have started with Smith, but I don't remember spirit energy, antidrug, and so on with his run.
I actually don't mind the cliff hangers, of they can do it well moving to a more serial fashion is nice

The 'Damn' was meant as an expression of excitement, not condemnation.

Ah, well I enjoyed it. Though I had some issues. The mute woman was obviously going to be a plot toy, why else have her there with no other way to communicate than a human translator?

Yea, that bit was pretty obvious, but then DW is aimed at children, as well as adults.

Awesome flashback and connection to 10 and the Pompei episode.

 So they came up with an explanation.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.

And I think we can safely call this seasons arc word: hybrid.

I'm not up on Who's News but I'm getting the impression that Ashildr is going to become the Doctor's new companion when Jenna leaves the show. Thoughts?

Would be interesting since she would be the first to also be immortal, if I'm not mistaken.

Would be interesting indeed, but not sure they'll go that way.

I was quite impressed with the 'monsters', the Mire, much more threatening than the Daleks.
