Movies you refuse to watch ..and why

Keeping the theme going per Tuco suggestion.

Woody Allen offerings make me ill. Just find them cloying.

I get very involved in any movie I watch - I cannot detach myself from the plot. So I don't watch horror movies, because I don't like being scared shitless, nor anything with too much violence/gore, or with a miserable ending. There's enough shit in real life without wanting to go and see it at the movies. I watch movies for a bit of escapism, not to bring all the crap right into my lap.

Never seen Alien, or the Exorcist, Silence of the Lambs, Reservoir of Dogs. Probably lots of great movies I'll never see.

I cant watch horrors for exactly the opposite reason - I lol watching them, which defeats the purpose of watching them.

As rule of thumb, I refuse to watch optimistic movies .. cute, romantic, upbeat? .. oh please, tone done on the oxytocin and stop hugging yourself.

So obviously the list is long. Lets pick one, a classic one: Singin’ In The Rain .. actually, I'll smoke the stuff you got there bro.

Actually .....take another look at Reservoir Dogs and watch it closely ....it is brilliant even tho I share some of your aversions, Kevin Spacey is incredible and you'll be astonished at the twist.

Ah upbeat is good ( lessens SAD impact ) especially when it is a true story rather than fiction. The Finest Hours is one such.
I don't like manufactured maudlin but an unlikely true story gives me a good pickup. Sully is another one.
No one would believe you if you wrote that as fiction....but it happened.
My take.

Music and movies are drugs to used as needed :D

Horror in general. It's not that I actively refuse to watch them (or play them, if they are games), I just don't like to, since I mostly don't find them very engaging and pretty silly and since nobody in my immediate environment is into them either, they just don't touch my little bubble. I will refuse the senseless gore/rape/violence and body-horror shit like SAW, Human Centipede, Serbian Film etc. I'm fine with a dude getting gibbed in an action movie, but I refuse to cope with pure malice for it's own sake.

Almost Famous
Sex And The City
Planes Trains And Automobiles
Nightmare On Elm Street [ All Six ]

We watch serious cinema. We do not watch rubbish
The four films listed above are not even worth the price of the popcorn

Do you mean The Usual Suspects? Spacey isn't in Reservoir Dogs.

I used to watch the series Sex And The City just because I fancied Sarah Jessica Parker but the programmes
themselves were total rubbish. I do not mind gratuitous violence or torture if it is essential to the plot like
in Saw for example. But violence or torture for its own sake is not something I am attracted to. Rom coms
are also total rubbish although I am obviously not the target audience

Yes, like Kill Bill. I watched the first one. Won't watch it again or any of the sequels. Tarantino is genius in ways, with a psychopathic obsession with blood, I fear. Saw? Same thing. Watched the first. Not for me.
Evolution saddens me. In an environment where irrational thinking is protected, the disparity in the population rate of creationists vs that of rational thinkers, equates to a creationist win. Let's remove warning labels from products as an equalizer.

Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Far too silly.

Sportman van de Eeuw - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393813/

I seldom get the ratings .. 6.9? Well, I guess its actually not bad given the limited audience. From comments: Cool sport, poor romance .. what is good romance? Titanic?
