Virtually every kind of reality TV show.

American Idol
X Factor
Dancing on Ice
Strictly Come Dancing
Big Brother
The Apprentice

In every one of them, there were people who were so irritating I would like to kill them.

I won't even go into the REALLY shit stuff like TOWIE, all the various dating shows and the moron-voyeurism that is Springer, Kyle and others of that ilk. It's easier to self-lobotimise with the aid of a nail-gun.

Don't listen to him. I thought it was pretty well done. Still have the last episode to watch but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
We are alive, so the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe.

Incidentally, apparently they filmed some of it inside the house of one of UncertainSloth's colleagues, in the Tuebrook area of Liverpool.

A man of my heart.

Those programmes appeal to level of intelligence that I never thought existed.

I can understand that being the case for stuff where people just sit around or be twats like in Big Brother, but how does a dancing competition appeal to people with low intelligence? It's just that I have a higher than average level of intelligence and it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

A prancing compition you mean. The relationship with dancing is very tenuous especially when an old catholic bitch can take part.

No, I mean a dancing competition. It's quite enjoyable watching the level that some people who are not primarily dancers can reach in a matter of weeks. The obviously crap make up only a part of those competing, and aren't the reason I watch, so for me the relationship to dancing is quite strong. However I do find it quite amusing when someone who can no longer remain relevant in their chosen field is reduced to allowing themselves to be ridiculed by being winched in ungainly fashion onto the dancefloor or dragged along it like a sack of spuds.

It's not the fact that it's a dancing competition, Fallible. I have no problem with talent competitions. It's the vacuous celebrities and the amount of manufactured "emotion" and hype that pisses me off. I know it pulls in the audiences and generates free publicity in the newspaper gossip pages but to me it's false, shallow and unnecessary. Which describes Simon Cowell to a T.

Yep, I can understand that. What I don't understand is how something like Strictly Come Dancing can't be enjoyable to people unless they're stupid.

I'm with you on the false emotion by the way. So tired of hearing tearful people going on about how winning the competition will mean they can take Granny to Butlins this year.

Oops, I made 20,000 posts.

Yay! Congrats. I'm so happy I could be the one to take you over the line. I'd like to thank my grandmother, my agent and the people of Ratskeptia for their unwavering support <sob>.

No. Mostly because she's dead, unfortunately.

Congrats Fall.

I would not take anyone to Butlins.

I went to Butlins with a few mates in 1965. No parents. I was sixteen and was pissed as a fart the whole week and waking up never in my own chalet.

What a week.

I could but she was not a fan of Butlins. "Cattle stations" was how she used to describe them. I hope there is no Heaven. If there were, she would be in there complaining about the catering.

I can't be arsed with teevee, barring a few science progs & the news the thing sits in the corner gathering dust. Oh, I do like Star Trek though.
